SBY arrives in Switzerland

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his entourage arrived on Monday evening (early Tuesday morning in Jakarta) in Geneva, marking the beginning of his week-long tour to Switzerland and Japan.

The President, accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, was welcomed by Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland Djoko Susilo and other Indonesian officials as he arrived at Cointrin Airport in Geneva.

Yudhoyono had taken a 12-hour flight from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta, excluding an hour-long stopover at Dubai International Airport, Antara reported.

Among his entourage, traveling on an Airbus A 330-300 operated by national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, are Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Djoko Suyanto, Industry Minister Ms Hidayat, and Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar.

East Java Governor Soekarwo, South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin and Indonesian Employers Association chairman Sofyan Wanandi are among other members of the entourage.

Yudhoyono will be in Geneva until Wednesday to attend the 100th International Labor Conference, along with a number of other country leaders.

He is scheduled to deliver a speech during the event; and to meet the director general of the UN office in Geneva, the director general of the World Health Organization, and the special envoy to the UN secretary-general for disaster risk reduction.

The President will depart to Japan on Wednesday.
